There are 4 parts to a successful pension plan:

Plan Documentation: Once a plan is designed it must in writing so that all 3 parties to the plan can clearly understand the plan. Those 3 parties are the plan sponsor, plan participants and the IRS.

Plan Funding: Once a plan is designed & documented it must have a place to put the contributions in such a way to create opportunity & minimize the risk of investment.

Plan reporting: Every year the Plan is in existence it must file an IRS 5500 or IRS 5500SF.
